Phil Ochs, an American protest singer (he preferred topical singer) died way before his time. He was only 36 when he committed suicide in 1976. My favorite song of his is found in his album Phil Ochs in concert, in which he satirizes liberals that he knows: Sure, once I was young and impulsive; I wore every conceivable pin, Even went to Socialist meetings, learned all the old Union hymns.
