E. Resolved that none of our churches receive any members belonging to any secret order into the fellowship of the church¬es. 22. Motion and carried that we grant the requests of the New Mount Olive Church to reinsert in our minutes the advise on Secret Orders as mentioned in our minutes of 1935. 23. Motion and second that we print in the 1965 minutes a copy of the writing from our 1937 minutes regarding correspond¬ence, with other Associations, as requested by the Little Mary Church. PRINTED IN OUR MINUTES OF 1937 (1937 -- From the original copy) We the church of Jesus Christ known as Regular Baptists composed of New Salem, Union, Sardis, and Kyova Associations. At our regular session in the year one thousand nine hundred thirty seven each of the above named associations during the business hours of their session had under consideration the advisability or possibility of making an effort to revise a Christian correspondence and fellowship with the various United Baptist Associations namely: Paint Union, Blaine Union, Bethle¬hem, New Hope, Iron Hill and Olive. We do hereby submit the following proposition for considera¬tion by the churches of the United Baptist Association who will meet with us by delegated authorized representatives at the Buffalo Church of United Baptist, at Johnson City, Ky., on Friday before the first Saturday in October, 1937. First realizing that we, Regular Baptist, and United Baptist Brethren came from the same original association and at that time were the same identical people in organization; faith, practice, and doctrine and for many years thereafter corresponded and had mutual fellowship, until discord due to practices and indulgences and perhaps doctrine, which things severed our fellowship and correspondence and at that time, afore stated correspondence and fellowship were totally destroyed and severed between us and the United Baptist Association. We do not deem the name Regular or United, essential, and we are willing to allow the same name to exist if it pleases. We will not fellowship open communion, nor Sunday Schools that are taught or conducted through Secretarian Literature, as we believe that only ordained medium by which men and women are taught is by God sent men preaching under the demonstration of the Holy Ghost, therefore, we strictly opposed any and all so called auxiliaries of the churches. Also, we denounce the use of what is known as erected alter or Mourners benches, as we have neither example nor precept of such in New Testament Scriptures. We feel quite certain that it is not in harmony with the scriptures for our brethren to enter into a covenant with such unbelievers and such conditions in the past have been detrimental to the progress of the Church, therefore, we do not believe our brethren should be affiliated with Secret Societies or Orders. We are opposed to doctrines that are advocated by some of the United Baptist Brethren that they know beyond a doubt person¬ally that they are saved, but we do believe that we are saved by hope which is the anchor of the soul, Christ being our Hope. We do not believe in partaking in other mens sins by preaching with and encouraging false doctrines, therefore, we will not labor with nor in conjunction with those who are not orthodox in Doc¬trine or Practice. J.C. Swindle, Moderator John Hopkins, Asst. Moderator S.M. Mullins, Clerk SATURDAY, AUGUST 13, 1966 No Request, Queries or Resolutions SATURDAY, AUGUST 12, 1967 28. Move and second that we shall not receive in any of our churches any member having two wives, or husbands, unless they can prove by church evidence that they have put away their former companion away for fornication and no other cause. 29. Moved and second that each church holds its own key and is the sole judge of its members as long as it doesnt violate the word of God, the order of the Association, or the Old Regular Baptist principles. 30. Moved and second for our churches not to fill their stands with alien ministers on their regular meeting times, that are not in fellowship with us, and also instruct our ministers not to preach with ministers no in fellowship with us. 31. Moved and second for our churches not to receive into their fellowship any woman with bobbed hair unless she agrees not to have it bobbed anymore and after you receive them to exclude from your membership all those who violate this agreement or continues to have their hair bobbed and not to restore them back into fellowship except by an experience of Grace.
