Philadelphias former Spring Garden Reading Railroad Station. This - TopicsExpress

Philadelphias former Spring Garden Reading Railroad Station. This was first stop on the Reading Railroad after trains left Reading Terminal on 12th & Market. Spring Garden Station and the elevated approach to Reading Terminal was abandoned on November 4th, 1984 when SEPTA (the succesor for the Reading Railroads commuter lines) built a new tunnel that connected the Reading Main with the Pennsylvania Railroads Suburban Station branch with a new underground station called Market East that sits right below Reading Terminal. The new right-of-way is only a few feet to the right going into a tunnel. There are currently plans to build a park or a museum at this location.
