Philhealth’s Point of Care program: renewing hope of Albay’s indigents Top executives of the Philhealth regional office in Bicol and officials of the Provincial Government of Albay met today, January 27, to discuss important issues regarding the agency’s Point of Care program which is due for implementation in the province. Board members Herbert Borja and Ralph Andes along with Capitol department heads exchanged views with Philhealth Region V Head Orlando Iñigo regarding the province’s status as providers of Philhealth’s insurance programs to indigent Albayanos. With the expiration of Philhealth cards issued to indigents, the Provincial Government has welcomed the Point of Care program as a new way to again continue the provision of health insurance benefits to its indigents. The Province intends to initially re-enroll 1,500 indigents which will be identified by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO). It may be recalled that last year, the Provincial Government had enrolled some 124,000 indigents under Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda’s Universal HealthCare Program. Point of Care collects a premium of only 2,400.00 pesos but both in and out-patient beneficiary will enjoy a no-balance-billing privilege and a short 30-day processing for any reimbursement claims.
