Philippine-Israel cooperation in agriculture is moving forward - TopicsExpress

Philippine-Israel cooperation in agriculture is moving forward toward a coalition of advanced agro-technology, with many partners from the academe, government and business. A total of 33 universities are participating in the special apprenticeship program for agriculture students. The universities with long-standing ties with Israel’s MASHAV, together with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Departments of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Israeli companies and organizations, got together on Nov 26 at Ambassador Effie Ben Matityau’s residence to discuss and enhance the structure of cooperation, taking maximum advantage of the 500 Filipino students studying in Israel on on-the-job-training and many hundred others trained in Israel and here by Israeli experts. The main objective is to turn all these universities into lighthouse projects that will enjoy demonstration units on the basis of Israeli agro-technology and will be extending support to farming communities. As project leaders, CHED, Commission on Overseas Filipinos and the universities, will formulate an agenda and action plan.
