Phillip E. Alexander Laid Bare If a picture truly tells a thousand words, then the one I have attached to this email should tell you everything you need to know about Phillip Edward Alexander. An arrogant, self-serving politician, he could care less about what our Prime Minister has to say to him, and rather focuses on the vanity of the photo he is posing for. But please feel free to analyze it yourselves. In the email below, sent today, Wednesday 26th November 2014, Mr. Alexander seeks to critique the strategy of the campaign manager for the UNC heading into the 2015 general election. Why a COP activist would take issue with that is somewhat confusing, as in previous elections the two parties, while maintaining their relationship in the People’s Partnership, have for the most part carried out separate campaigns. But to each his own. What is more curious is that in one paragraph he states that the campaign will focus on the achievements of the government, but takes issue with it being credited to the Prime Minister instead of the line Minister, and suggests that this would hinge the entire campaign on the image of Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar. He of course does this not realizing that he has contradicted himself, because the focus will remain on the achievements. So heres some election campaign tips for the UWI alum: 1. The collective achievements of the government are always attributed to either the government or the Prime Minister because of the role cabinet plays; 2. Members of Parliament are not asked to account for their accomplishments in their Ministrys when they seek reelection, but rather on the work they completed as a MP; 3. During a general election, our nation has historically voted (after party affiliation) for the person best suited to be our Prime Minister, and placed faith in that person to assemble the best government. Of course, as a communications or PR consultant to various ministries, I would have expected him to know all of this this already. But truth be told, Phillip E. Alexander would not be satisfied with any strategy that he has not only created but also profited from. Lest we forget the hefty price tags he submitted along with his strategies in the past. What is worrisome however, is the fact that the COP leadership has been extremely lenient and silent towards these attacks on the UNC and its campaign team. One would think that in a partnership agreement with the UNC, they would advise their activists to exercise tact when addressing these matters. Not only is this sort of behavior unethical, but it is also unwarranted as such discussions could first take place privately, and solutions found. But once again Mr. Alexander chooses to criticize and complain without offering one iota of advice or counter-measure. But of course why should he offer anything if no one ever asked him too. This is the Rodney Charles election strategy for the UNC believe it or not. All government ministers are to credit the Prime Minister with ANY success they have, any failures are either their own or was caused by the PNM in general or Keith Rowley directly. For example: This morning i had a wonderful breakfast of bacon and eggs that, thanks to the wonderful efforts of our beautiful and illustrious Prime Minister was the best bacon and eggs i have ever eaten. We are fortunate to live in a country run by the Honorable Kamla Persad Bissessar who makes it possible for us all to have such tasty and nutritious breakfasts. The coffee was cold though, as cold as life under the PNM might be, and i am happy to be reminded by this disgusting cup of coffee why Im against Keith Rowley and why he would make a horrible Prime Minister. Now you might laugh at my ridiculous example, but people are actually being paid to promote this nonsense in 2014, as if the public is so easily duped. I am hoping against all hope that whatever collective reasoning exists within the parties that make up the partnership wakes up to reality and takes this on head on, because should the opposition respond in kind (which i am sure they will), should they train their entire election similarly on the same Prime Minister, one wonders which would have more effect in a country that has traditionally voted AGAINST incumbents since independence. Imagine an election where hundreds of millions of dollars are going to be spent deifying and demonising the same Kamla Persad Bissessar, i wonder how she as a person is going to hold up under the onslaught. I wonder what the population is going to make of it, what they are going to do with it? Straight out of the PNM convention we did not see the government through communication debunking the claims made by the leader of the opposition, we put out an animated video of Keith Rowley with a long nose. So the floating voter is going to have to make an election choice on who they hate less. If that remains the case, brace for a bruising, angry, hateful and possibly even violent campaign.
