Philosophizing, Minimizing, Analyzing, Reducing, Reusing, and ….. leading the way to a better grounded gypsy, steward of the earth, lifestyle! Trips such as mine are a wonderful opportunity to go through years of clutter. Do you really want your kids or other family members have to go through all of that when you’re not around? What’s important, what’s not? What do you need vs. what do you want? How much or what things do you need to be happy? I’m not just referring to ‘things’ either. It’s also about money because as simple as you think you want your life to be, money is important or … as my mother (she keeps popping up) used to say … ‘… money is only important if you don’t have enough …’ I was laughing at myself driving to Meghan’s this morning. Laughing because I’ve told myself that I’ve created a simple life for myself in this motorhome, bringing only what I need to get by. Well, that apparently includes a kitchen scale (which measures in grams as well as ounces), a blender and a food processor, a juicer (albeit it a simplistic one), and all of my Cutco knives, just to name a few of my kitchen accoutrements I like to cook; I like to dabble in the kitchen – it makes me happy. I honestly think I bought this motorhome because of the layout of the kitchen and its cabinetry capacity. I’m also traveling with 2 bikes. One road bike and one mountain bike. They flank my bed while traveling:-) They make me happy …. Just knowing I have them nearby to hop onto whenever I choose gives me a sense of calm. And my favorite books, yes they’re with me, too. Now if you open my clothes closet, you’ll see simplicity! All of this is life reduced to its simplest form-- It’s about surrounding yourself with things (and people) that make you feel stimulated, warm, happy, productive, and useful. Whatever is right for you is your magical place and it should be sacred. After I returned from my last RV trip I never had television connected in my home. I felt I was beginning to waste time watching it towards the end of my road trip. I don’t like wasting time (or feeling as if I am). But that’s just me. When I purchased this motorhome it came with two TV’s. I thought I’d enjoy having them after so long but as it turns out, I don’t. Once again, that’s just me. I’m more content with some great music in the background while cooking, baking or grilling up some crazy new dish or getting outside and enjoying the fresh air. Find what makes you smile, live your life as you’d like and keep it close to your heart. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise and try your best not to compromise, at least any of your significant values. My day with Meghan, Craig, Carson and Cooper was wonderful and fulfilled the stimulated, warm, useful, productive and happy sensations and emotions that I need and want in my days’ activities. Perhaps petty to some but to me it’s one generation passing on something intangible to another… You can’t put a price tag on it and I look forward to it every day I’m here …
