It was my first visit. His Holiness was very hospitable and he wanted to show us his tomb (still under construction then). He was very proud of it. “Mor Michael Rabo also built his own tomb,” he said. We went down and saw four tombs. He said that the first is for the remains of Patriarch Afram Barsoum, the second for the remains of Patriarch Jacob III, the third for himself, and the fourth for his successor. He then went and stood inside his own tomb and said to me, “Son, take some pictures.” So I did. Ever since his passing away, I have been looking for these pictures to post them but was unable to find them. Two days ago, Christine found a huge pile of hundreds of negatives. I was not optimistic. I pulled one negative. Not only was it the 1999 trip pile, but the very picture I was looking for: the Patriarch inside his tomb! I immediately ran to CVS to develop the negative. “We don’t develop negatives anymore Sir,” the worker told me. “Try Walmart”. Off to Walmart I went. “Sir, try Target.” Seriously!! I went to Target. Nothing! “Do you have a negative scanner,” I asked. “No!” By then Best Buy was closed. Next day I called Best Buy, “do you have negative scanners?” Of course the answer was “No.” Finally, I called B&H and was ready to go to Manhattan to pick one up. But they were able to ship me one next day service.
