Photos from the last few days monitoring the baited drumlines off of Western Australias south-west coastline on Bruce The Rib. These hooks indiscriminately kill marine life both along WA and my home state of Queensland. In WA, the drumlines will be removed (hopefully permanently) in around one weeks time. Shark nets are seasonally implemented off the New South Wales coast, and in Queensland both drumlines and shark nets are in place all year round... These archaic methods of shark control need to be removed to make room for more effective and significantly less destructive measures. Lots of love to those who stand up to fight for shark and marine life conservation, and to those who leave before dawn each day to ensure that this nation wakes up to the reality of these devices, and realises the price that marine life pay to ease our irrational fear of a highly misunderstood creature. Thank you to Greens Senator Rachel Siewert who came aboard Bruce today to help monitor- good to see some people in positions of power standing up for wildlife! :) Happy to report 3 clear days in the south-west. Bruce will be monitoring off Perth beaches tomorrow; head to the facebook page to follow updates! https://facebook/BruceTheRib #noWAsharkcull #noQLDsharkcull #noNSWsharkcull #seashepherd
