Physical Life!! To be physically alive means the Soul of Soul-spirit is in union with our own body. To die physically means that we separate from our own mortal body. In the bible die means “to be separate from” and to be alive means “to be in union with” and to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (II Corinthians 5:8) Obviously, our core identity encompasses more than our physical body because our body will be left behind when we physically die and we (the inner person who is the essential “I”) will be present with the Lord. Therefore, to build a concept of self armed only our physical appearance and traits is woe fully inadequate. However, our immaterial self needs our material self to function in this physical world. For example: Your physical brain is like the hardware of the computer system and your immaterial mind is like the software. The hardware cannot perform any meaningful function without software and the software needs the hardware in order to fulfill its purpose. The brain can only function according to how it has been programmed we can do little to change the physical nature of our brain. In order to restore a damaged self-image we have to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. “Therefore, we do not lose heart but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day (II Corinthians 4:16) Example: A man who goes for gym, physically impressive with well developed muscles. He said ‘I hope I don’t get a new body when I go to heaven because I’ve worked so hard for this body. The good news is that we do get a new body when we die. His comment were wrapped up in his physical appearance and he was doing everything he could to stop the decaying process. Think of the millions of people who undergo plastic surgery. “It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment” – Heb 9:27 Thank you God Bless you!
