Pianist Haskell Small will perform Catalan Spanish composer Federico Mompou’s Musica Callada on Saturday, October 25 at Nuestra Iglesia-Convento de San Juan de la Cruz, Alameda de la Fuencisla in Segovia and Sunday, October 26 at Monasterio de Sant Pau del Camp, Carrer de Sant Pau, 101 in Barcelona, Spain. This is part of his Journeys in Silence European concert tour. Mr. Small will perform the complete Musica Callada. This set of 28 miniatures was composed between 1959 and 1967. Rarely performed, the work carries the listener through a musical journey in quietude counterpointed with moments of explosive contrast.
