Pianist-composer Mike Garson teams up with The Foundation for Neuroscienes, Stroke and Recovery, to present Music Heals II. Their goal is to Raise Awareness of The Healing Power of Music. The event will take place on Sunday, Nov. 2nd at 2 p.m. at Laguna Woods Clubhouse 3 Theatre, 23822 Avenida Sevilla, Laguna Woods, CA 92367. Music lovers will witness firsthand the healing power of music at this performance. No one can deny that music has the power to heal, and now there is scientific research to support this idea. Written in collaboration with patients with various disorders and ailments, Mike Garson’s “Symphonic Suite for Healing” is a compilation of music chosen by the patients themselves for their healing qualities. Mike will be performing excerpts from this composition with a talented cast of musicians from all over the United States. Additional pieces on the program include Garson’s Gershwin Medley, Brubeck’s Blue Rondo á la Turk, and Kretzmer/Schonberg’s “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables. The concert will include a special tango performance by Parkinson’s patient Nancy DuFault and her husband, Bob. THE CONCERT IS FREE FOR LAGUNA WOODS RESIDENTS. American pianist and composer Mike Garson is a versatile artist whose wide range of repertoire encompasses classical, jazz, and rock. Most noted for his work with David Bowie as well as some of the most prolific bands of the alternative rock genre, including Nine Inch Nails and The Smashing Pumpkins, Garson has worked to make the world a more creative, compassionate and compelling place. Garson’s solo career has brought him into the realm of classical music and jazz genres. Mike recorded a great version of Rhapsody in Blue, which is how he came to my attention.
