Pick of The Day 2013. 07. 06. France U20 – Uzbegistan U20 Pick: Over 2,5 Odds: 1.72 Bookie: Expekt France made a great performance in the previous match they played, as they completely outplayed host nation Turkey in the phase of last 16 of the World Cup with a 4:1 result. They are entering quarter final match against limited Uzbekistan being in a great mode and with high level self confidence. It was their best performance till now in the competition as they prevailed Turkey much easier than expected. French went strong into the game, determined to score the goal early and it payed of to them as they went to a halftime with a 2:0 result. They added two more in the repetition, also missing a penalty shootout, while the Turks weren’t able to reply with anything more but a consolidation goal thirteen minutes before the full time whistle. It seems that France really upped their game in comparison to qualifying stage matches. Their performances were just a modest one, winning over Ghana 3:1, while they only drew against USA and were defeated by Spain. Now, in the quarter-finals, they look like second favorites (after Spain) to take the title, while there is optimism in their roster. French side has no injury worries in front of this game, while defender Oumtiti gets back to the starting lineup after serving suspension. Uzbekistan made a great surprise earning a spot in the last eight of the World Cup. They won over Greece in the last match with a result of 3:1. Could be said that they played smarted and got the qualification deservedly. Coach Akmantian was pleased after the match with Greece, saying that the team simply tries to do their best in every game so far and that they have achieved their goal. No doubt, Uzbekistan is the biggest surprise of the tournament so far as they had only one game till now where they showed to be really poor losing to Uruguay 4:0, although there is also an excuse that they had already secured ticket to the knockout before that game. The team is in a great atmosphere, but it’s really tough to see them progressing once again, at least not against one of the strongest sides in the tournament. Uzbekistan has some worries in front of this game, as important defenders Yuldashev and Rakhmanov are both suspended, while midfielder Iskandarov is out injured till the rest of the tournament. After seeing the match where France defeated the host team 4-1, I was covinced by this players. They play together, most of them are very athletic and technique. A very strong midfield with Pogba from Juventus working as the heart of the team and very quick players in the attack, especially Sanogo, that as I heard already signed with Arsenal. Uzbekistan surprised in reaching this far, but I can´t forget that they lost 4-0 with Uruguay. France plays most of their matches attacking for the most of the time and this one shouldn’t be any different. Game should be an open one, as the stronger side will attack much more, while the Uzbekis will have to respond with open, attacking game sooner or later.
