Picked up and amazingly sweet but hurting lady walking alongside the road tonight. Apparently she had just gotten in a huge fight in the car with her husband and got out to walk home. When I pulled over to pick her up she said no I live just around the corner. I said but in those heels, its a long way! She got in the van and burst into tears. I just hugged her and she hugged me for the longest time. I asked her what do you need? And she said just take me home. Which ended up being like 5 miles away. We talked. She said we just came from church! And it was great but theres just a lot going on right now... A lot. I asked her name and she said Karen. I told her I am Suzanne and would commit to praying for her this week. My heart broke for her. I know where she lives so asking God how I can check in on her and love her later in the week. People are hurting all around us. My eyes are opening slowly, but just seeing needs and hurts all around me. If only we could be a community of Jesus where it really matters? When people need it most? What would it look like if we truly SAW outside our 4 walls and little lives? I am so challenged in my own heart. I It is the Resurrection. May we offer that new hope and new life that we have been so lavishly gifted.
