Picture1: This church building was built on N. Main St. at a cost of $6,000.00. This church was occupied by The United Brethren until 1917 and is now the Masonic Temple. Picture 2 & 3: In 1917 The United Brethren moved to a new building, built on the corner of Main and Second St. This building and parsonage adjoining were built at a cost of $45,000.00. On April 23,1968 at a uniting conference in Dallas, TX, the Evangelical United Brethren (EUB) and Methodist Churches joined together and became United Methodist Church. Picture 4: The church building was last occupied by The Veedersburg Nazarene Church. It was sold about a year and a half ago. I live right by it but have no idea who has taken ownership of it. We have been told it is a ministry from Westville, IL. Picture 5 & 6: This is the Masonic Temple today. My grandparents were very active in the Lodge and Eastern Star. Picture 7: Other organizations that were active in Veedersburg but had disbanded was Modern Woodman of America (M.W.A.), Royal Neighbors, Red Men and The Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Knights of Pythias was organized in 1890 and in 1972 Paul Severs was Deputy Grand Chancellor of the State of Indiana Grand Domain. History information taken out of Veedersburg Centennial Book. Pictures from the web.
