Pictured below is the building which, for many of us, was familiar as Pen Argyls Segattis Tavern. A bit of history regarding the Segatti family. Attilio Segatti owned a meat and grocery store near Pen Argyl Park in Jorytown. He also had a delivery truck route a few days a week. The store burned down about 1924. Shortly after, he opened a butcher shop at 6 West Main St in Pen Argyl. About 1935 he purchased Greens Corner (1 West Main St) and moved his butcher shop there. He also opened Segattis Tavern in the same building. In the early 1940s he moved the butcher shop to the corner of Robinson and Pennsylvania Avenues where the A&P was located. The meat and grocery business was operated until the early 1950s. Attilios son Peter and daughter Gloria worked in the store. After WWII Attilios sons Guy and Anthony remodeled the bar. Guy worked in the bar for his father. When Attilio passed in 1966, Guy took over the bar until he passed in 1978. Not sure who operated the bar after that or exactly when it closed for good but I believe the building is now vacant and has been for quite some time.
