Pilgrimage to the Tijuana Border About: Tuesday July 22, 2014 mothers and their families will begin a 300+ mile, 22-day pilgrimage from Merced to the U.S. – Mexico border. The goal is to raise awareness about the human rights atrocities that occur as families are torn apart, detained and deported. We are working to eliminate human rights violations and support a clear pathway to citizenship so that families can remain together. What Im Raising Money For: The funds will be used to purchase food, water, medical supplies and other necessities for the mothers, their children, and families during the 22 day pilgrimage. Those who make it across are detained in unsanitary holding cells, endure violence and abuse and are subjected to a system of border politics and racial discrimination.
