Pistol Pete Maravich, probably the best Offensive player ever in the game. Pure shooter and ball handler. I had a good friend that played for Ole Miss back in the day and he once said to a group of us his greatest achievement in Basketball was holding Pete to only 50 points (a tongue in cheek comment but not far from the truth). I got to see Pete play one College game as a Freshman (back when Freshman could not play Varsity) and it was against Southern Miss and Wendall Ladner. Well Wendell was a true poward forward and during the first Half he blasted Pete against the Goal post as Pete went for a layup, Pete left the game and never returned for the second half. while Pete played for LSU, the Arena was always packed, you couldnt find a ticket anywhar. In his Freshman year the arena would be packed for the Freshman game (always played just before the Varsity game) and when the Varsity played it would be virtually empty. Pete was that good!
