Pitching me Jason Statham versus James Franco in a script by Sylvester Stallone had me hoping for a muscular cheeseball throwback of an actioner, but HOMEFRONT is a total dud, memorable only for how incompetently it was made. Chief among the directors sins is having Franco play a backwater meth cook named Gator but getting nothing interesting out of it all, hes sleep walking. But if I could, Id lock the director in a room with just the James Cameron collection on Blu Ray and not let him leave til hes written me 10,000 words on the evils of shaky cam and the importance of spatial awareness in film making. It was fun to see Winona Rider as a tweaked out biker chick but throw it on the pile of totally useless Statham flicks.
