Pius A. Izilein Take A Risk SCRIPTURE READING: JUDGES 6:1-24 FOCUS: “…Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.” (Judges 6:11)That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. While Israel was at war, Gideon went to thresh wheat. It was safer to hide from Midianites, but Gideon stepped out to do what he had to do; stepping out was risky, anyone could be forgiven for doing nothing because of the attacks, but Gideon took the risk. Gideon had to choose between hiding and dying of hunger, or stepping out to make things happen; and he took the risk of stepping out. The attacks were yet to end, it wasn’t an easy step to take at that moment, that move could have backfired, but Gideon discarded fear and made the move. Friend, there are things you may never achieve until you take risks to achieve them; there are uncommon results you may never have until you do what others are unwilling to do; there are heights you may not attain until you step out of your comfort zone and do what is not convenient; there are victories you may not record until you are willing to fight battles that others are scared to fight. God says, take risks that will bring results. Do what others are unwilling to do; step out of your comfort zone and take strategic steps; step out of the boundaries of convenience; stop doing what is easy and do difficult stuff. If fear stops you from taking crucial steps, you are living like a coward. Great results often come great risk. If you wait until it’s convenient for you, it might be convenient for everyone, and you will face needless competition. If you keep doing what is easy, your life will remain difficult; but if you dare to do what is difficult, your life will be easy. Ecclesiastes 11:4 captures it aptly: “He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.” Pray With Me: Lord, give me boldness to take strategic risks that will give me uncommon results, in Jesus’ name! Have A Splendid Sunday.
