Place: Barista Lavazza, Dhanmondi Order: Chocolate Doughnut 98/- Review: Beignets are a French Pastry. Its basically what this is, a pillow doughnut with thick creamy molten filling in it, most commonly variations of chocolate. It has been ages since Ive had a Beignet. So when I saw the reviews for this item, I decided to give it a go. My Doughnut smelled absolutely gorgeous. That deep aroma of chocolate was seriously appetizing. But... And yes theres a but, I have my doubts as to whether this item is freshly baked. I have a feeling this was at least a day or two old. When you have fresh pastry the entire bread/cake is actually quite moist and crumbly inside with a smooth surface. And creamy molten chocolate everywhere. When I Tried (with a capital T) cutting into it, it just wasnt working. So I dipped my fingers into the mess and took a bite out of it. The dough was slightly tough and I had to tear into it honestly. The center was slightly cooler (the room temperature kind). That was hint enough. And then that thick chocolate hits my tongue. The chocolate was absolutely gorgeous, especially the already molten mess on my plate. That could have been because it was heated. But the chocolate inside the doughnut although nice was kind of chewy. Enough said. I cleared off my plate by dipping the doughnut in the chocolate on it cause it wasnt going down right. I think even the pictures will be clue enough for the pastry or doughnut bakers amongst us as to whether it looks old or not. And whether or not it was a previous days item that was heated and put in front of me. Except for the chewy part it wasnt a bad dessert. The taste it left of chocolate on my tongue was pretty satisfactory. But I bet a fresh doughnut would have probably slain me then and there with its freshly baked goodness. Im really hoping that next time I try it, Ill find it as amazing as acclaimed. A Last Chance!
