Plaid Cymru Leader Leanne Wood Labour is on course to lose the next election and Wales may face “decades of un-mandated Tory rule,” according to Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood. The party leader is calling for Wales to gain new powers of “self-government” in a new devolution settlement. Ms Wood wants to move to a position where instead of Westminster deciding what powers to devolve to the Assembly the Welsh people “would decide what powers Wales should share with others”. Her comments come a day after the publication of a poll commissioned by Lord Ashcroft yesterday showed the Conservatives have climbed five points to 33% while Labour were down two points on 31%. The Liberal Democrats were unchanged on 9%, Ukip were down two points at 15%. Ms Wood said: “A consensus is emerging among commentators, pollsters and politicians that Labour will fail to win the general election next year. If the strong polling for Ukip continues, particularly in parts of England, it is possible there will be another Tory-led Government from next May with Ukip MPs taking seats. walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/wales-faces-decades-conservative-rule-7348768
