Plan A (draft one): Prove spectacle dam exists. Thursday - TopicsExpress

Plan A (draft one): Prove spectacle dam exists. Thursday November 13th. Itinerary: 7am departure from Altamont with one compatriot (Jon Hodgkins). Arrive at Amsterdam Hannaford and pick up the third musketeer (Tim Greer) around 8am. Continue up to destination in one vehicle (9am arrival): Route 10 parking lot at good luck lake. (Dont worry you wont need it.) From there we travel by foot west north west on the dexter dry trail (109). A relatively (no mountains I promise) flat hike in. Once reaching dry lake (2.5 miles) we circle around the lake and hike along the stream in a southern direction (no trail .5 miles) to the dam. Once we have reached the dam we feast on hot foods and tasty beverages(see provisions below). Return trip options based on terrain and vegetation conditions: A. follow the shoreline east of spectacle lake around to trail 113(4 miles) B. Follow the shoreline west of spectacle to the massive beaver dam falls(if still intact from my last encounter) and take trail 109 out by dexter lake(3.5miles). C. Follow the same route back (3 miles) Provisions: Mini hot dogs, beans, and cornbread will be provided. Easy to cook in cold weather. Also a few splashes of whiskey to keep spirits warm. Bring 2 liters of water, a container/ mug to hold hot food and a fork and one snack. Weather/dress: Temperatures will be just above freezing. Dress for freezing weather. Outlook is dry. Winds may be strong along the shoreline. Any questions and yes I do have more free time on my hands these days. Anyone else interested in joining message me.
