In another unrelated development, the Chairman of Expatriate Workers Office at the Kuwait Labor Union Federation Abdulrahman Al- Ghanim has warned against the dangers of treating expatriate workers oppressively to cover the failure of the government in solving the problems faced by the workers and reforming the Kuwaiti labor market, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Al-Ghanim revealed this in the third report titled ‘Confusion over Government Handling the Workers’ File’, which was issued to express the views of the federation regarding the issues faced by the expatriate workers. He indicated that the new administration in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor have been troubling expatriates in order to avoid confrontation with selfish people. He criticized the deportation of expatriate workers and oppressive treatment against them, which makes them feel humiliated and unwanted. Al-Ghanim indicated that the decision to deport 100,000 expatriate workers annually has increased the cost of recruiting workers, which serves the interests of the visa traders, stressing that the current sponsorship law negatively affects the image of Kuwait.
