Plan Your Life “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” Luke 14:28 While Jesus has paid the full price, you cannot fold your hands and expect everything to fall on you like a bag of cherries. Jesus in the scripture above is calling our attention to a very important principle and that is planning. It has been rightly said that he who fails to plan, plans to fail. Are you living your life consciously towards attaining a particular goal, or are you just drifting and taking whatever life brings your way? You may be involved in different activities in the church but do you have a strategy for your life? Do you think that you give God glory when you just exist? The scripture says that we should not be vague and thoughtless and foolish but understanding, grasping what the will of the Lord is (Ephesians 5:17). The bible says, “Watch your step. Use your head; make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times. Don’t live carelessly” (Ephesians 5:15-17 MSG). I want to establish some basic, ground zero, facts. Are you going where you really want to go in life or are you just wandering? Are the things you are involved in, the very activities you want to be engaged in or are you doing them because you have been there for a long time and don’t want to change anything? Is this the way you want to keep living your life? Possibly, you are no longer reading your Bible. You are no longer praying. You are no longer sitting to think of where you are going and how you can go beyond your present level. Are you presently satisfied, thinking you have arrived saying to yourself that you have reached your peak? Are you in the company of those who are presently enjoying the ovations and not planning to sustain it? Yes the ovation is high but you must understand that ovation never lasts forever and is never high all the time. To sustain the ovation you must decide to live strategically, having a purpose in view and a strategy to realize it. Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14 “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. Look at the story of Joseph, what he gave Pharaoh was a strategy, a plan, and that earned him the position of the Prime Minister. I challenge you today to put a strategy in place for your life and watch God move you closer and closer to your destination with each passing day.
