Planned emergency fire evacuation exercise at the Friarage - TopicsExpress

Planned emergency fire evacuation exercise at the Friarage Hospital today Designed to help nurses and doctors practice an emergency evacuation of a hospital ward, in a controlled and safe environment in a ‘real life, real time’ situation, the exercise will also involve North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency services. Stewards will advise patients, relatives and visitors of the activities taking place and ensure there is minimal disruption to the normal running of the hospital. For realism the planned emergency evacuation will see around 30 hospital and military personnel acting as patients and staff trapped in a smoke-filled ward on the top floor of the hospital. No patients will take part in the exercise and patient care will not be disrupted. The exercise will start at 10am and should be complete by 12.30pm. There will be three fire engines in attendance at the exercise and an aerial ladder platform which allows fire fighters to work at height. southtees.nhs.uk/news/hospitals/emergency-services-to-tackle-mock-hospital-fire/
