The Town of Estes Park Community Development Department will be submitting grant applications to acquire funding for both projects no later than Jan. 30. The Downtown Plan would coordinate various issues that affect downtown including flood mitigation, traffic, parking, transit, infrastructure and land uses. The Channel Migration Mapping project will map Channel Migration Zones throughout the Estes Valley. Channel Migration is the process of river channels migrating slowly over time or abruptly to new locations, which happened in numerous areas throughout the Estes Valley during the flood of 2013. If the grants are awarded, the planning process would begin by summer of 2015.
