Planning my way to ArmadilloCon, avoiding 1-35 the whole way. Im trying to figure out the best way to get to south Austin (near the airport), without going through the downtown traffic on a Friday afternoon (between 3:30 and 5, I suspect.) Im considering taking HW 281 all the way down to Marble Falls (I usually break off at Lampasas and take 183), and then taking HW 71 over into South Austin. My cursory estimation is an additional 30 miles, which Im willing to add on in order to stay out of heavy traffic. Any thoughts from area people?
