Planning next Friday to go to the Grand Canyon for a couple of weeks. My wife is visiting her friends in Washington DC. I love the Canyon. Ive hiked it from Hermits Trail to the South Kaibob trail. Been to Phantom Ranch, Indian Gardens, and a half dozen camp sites on the Tonto. (Some actually official sites per the Back Country office!) This time I plan day hikes on the South Rims and possibly an overnight or two at Indian Gardens. They have an excellent Trailer Village with full hook ups. 50 Ft sites, Cable, Wi Fi and cell service. $35 per night. The village is 1/2 mile from the rim and has a restaurant, equipment & food store. It is near Yavapai Lodge, Mather Camp Ground and the other fancy hotels and restaurants. Temperture should vary from mid 60s in the day to low 50s at night. The last time I visited in Spring there were two blizzards and 4 ft of snow. Hoping to avoid that! (But i will bring the mandatory ice cleats , the snow shovel I bought last time and my LL Bean Maine Wardens Parka - Just in case!
