Planning our trip to Spain. Jacqui wants to see all the Gaudi buildings in Barcelona which sound very trippy. I want to see the Spanish Civil War sites like George Orwells Barcelona digs at the Hotel Continental that he immortalised in Homage To Catalonia and the top of La Rambla where the opening shots of the civil war were fired in July 1936. In a way, we are both paying tribute to our late fathers. Jacquis father was a fashion designer and painter, my father was a radical who tried enlisting in the International Brigade to fight in the Spanish Civil War only to be arrested by the Polish police who chucked him in jail without charging him. Its going to be a fascinating trip.
