Plans are afoot to raise the driving test eligibility age by 1 - TopicsExpress

Plans are afoot to raise the driving test eligibility age by 1 year to 18 and to introduce a curfew between 10pm and 5am for new drivers in an effort to cut the number of accidents involving young drivers. We can see the logic here to a degree, but feel that this is stigmatising the majority for the mistakes of a minority and ultimately wont make any real impact. (Of course with this government, that is called business as usual) From a purely psychological standpoint, there isnt much difference between 17 and 18. Its not like at 18 some switch is flipped that magically makes someone a more responsible road user. What are you thoughts?
