Plants have their own folklore, especially in the mountains I - TopicsExpress

Plants have their own folklore, especially in the mountains I think, but not just here. Sassafras is a spring tonic, but its also supposed to be bad luck to burn it. Jewelweed grows close to poison ivy and nettles because, the oldtimers say, it is a good antidote to their itchy poisons. Raspberry leaf tea is supposed to be good for women, but not too much of it at one time. Red raspberries color is explained in a Greek legend, and in England mystical properties are assigned to the oak, holly, apple and other plants. What stories/lore have you heard about plants in your area?
