The accumulation of plaque tends to be thick around the gum and as a result begin to irritate and infect the gums. Inflamation of the gums occur and the inflamation is characterised by swelling,redness and bleeding gums.. If plaque is not immediately treated the result will be periodontal diseases which are far much worse.. So take care of your teeth
