PlayStation 4 – What We Know On 20th February 2013, SONY offically announced their Next Generation Console: PlayStation 4. While we didn’t get to see the console itself (subsequently teased in a video to be revealed at E3 in June), SONY did reveal several choice tidbits about what the console can do, the power it possesses, and some of the games that we can be playing when it finally arrives. The PlayStation 4 console: 8GB of RAM 8-Core CPU Blu-ray drive HDMI, Analog AV and Digital Optical Outputs USB 3.0 802.11 b/g/n Wireless and Bluetooth 2.1 Remote play on PlayStation Vita The DualShock 4 Controller: Improved Dual Analog sticks 2 Point Touch Pad SHARE button to share achievements Built-in Mono Speaker and Headset Jack Enhanced Vibration Six Axis motion sensing system USB (Micro B) and Bluetooth 2.1+EDr connectivity The PlayStation 4 Camera: Dual 1280 x 800 pixel cameras Up to 240fps video 4 Channel Microphone Array 30cm capture range with 85° field of view PlayStation 4 Games Announced during (or just after) the presentation: Assassin’s Creed IV Call of Duty: Ghosts Deep Down Destiny Diablo III Drive Club inFAMOUS: Second Son Killzone: Shadow Fall Knack The Witness Watch_Dogs Key Notes from the PlayStation 4 reveal The architecture has been built around familiar PC hardware (but with loads of power!), and developed in collaboration with the developer community, which should mean happy developers working in an environment suited to their creative needs. PlayStation Vita owners are in for a treat – the PS4 has been built to stream games to your PS Vita, offering remote play on the handheld, offering the best of both worlds. Transform your smartphone using the PlayStation app, letting you use it as a second screen for things like maps and communicating with other players. PlayStation 4 lets you connect with your fellow gamers like never before. The Dualshock 4′s Share button will let you, well, share your achievements with your friends, as well as discussing the game while you play, while Ustream will allow you to actually stream your games as you play them. On the subject of streaming, PS4 has Gaikai technology built-in, letting you stream sections of any game and ‘try before you buy’ titles from the PlayStation store. Downloading is no longer so time-consuming – thanks to a new chip, you can download games and updates in the background while playing, and even start playing new games while they’re downloading! Save even more time with new ‘suspend mode’, letting you jump in and out of games without the trouble of saving, loading and waiting each time you start a new session. Expect even more to be revealed during SONY’s E3 conference on Tuesday June 11th. - See more at: playstationnews.game.co.uk/playstation-4-facts/#sthash.KdW5EGfH.dpuf
