Played @GerryDiver Gerry Divers Speech Project in car home from Pogues gig for Shire Irish in Bristol last night. Gig was hilarious and very moving. Mad crush, I was up against the front barrier. Hard to believe theyre still going strong. 30 years ago I was in a squat in Hackney and chanced upon them playing in a pub. If anyone had told me then theyd still be playing and Id still be gigging 3 decades later Id have thought it impossible. But glad theyre still going. Shane seemed to pace himself well and it gives the rest of them the chance to shine. No cashpoint in ampitheatre, no cards accepted for beer & chips. Had huge row with security about getting cash from Tesco and getting back in. Told the boss jobsworth I was contract lawyer and would sue if they didnt give me some customer service.
