Player Ratings Arsenal vs coventry Fabianski – 7 Had to keep alert for the odd opportunity that Coventry may have on the break and made a few good saves. Jenkinson – 6.5 Some decent crosses but was caught out a few times on the break and in possession. Mertesacker – 6.5 Not his best game, as his lack of pace really let him down and he let Baker through for some shots on goal. Koscielny – 7 Was crucial in the final 20 minutes as we looked to put the game to bed without conceding a stupid goal. Gibbs – 7.5 Good defensively and good going forward, with some nice crosses. Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7 Made some good dribbles, but his lack of fitness showed and he was not as sharp as he will be in a few weeks time. Caught in possession a few times and a the odd misplaced pass, but nothing too terrible. Wilshere – 7 A good game from Jack, but somewhat slow to get back and do his defensive work, which is more important when he is meant to be playing the deeper defensive midfield role. Gnabry – 6.5 An ok game, but did not link particularly well with Jenkinson, preferring to cut inside and play through the middle. Özil – 8.5 MOTM At the centre of every Arsenal attack, grabbed a great assist for Podolski’s first goal and hit the post in the final minutes. Podolski – 8 Scored twice and linked really well with Ozil, which is fantastic to see as these two have had very few opportunities to play together at Arsenal despite being national teammates. Bendtner – 6 Ok hold-up play, but rarely threatened. Substitutes Cazorla – 7.5 Gave us that little bit of extra pace and creativity as we looked to push for the goals that would really cement the result. Took his goal really well, his 4th goal in 4 games. Zelalem – 7 Had a good debut, showing off some of his skills on the rare occasion that he actually got the ball, because Coventry were pressing hard. Giroud – 7.5 A tidy finish for his 13th goal of the season. Should be more than capable of beating the 17 he got in all competitions last season, which is fantastic
