Playfully fantastical sculptures like this one are among the highlights of the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall, England. The sprawling gardens were built up over the course of a century by the Cornish Tremayne family on land that has comprised their family estate for 400 years. Falling into disrepair after World War I, the gardens were neglected until the 1990s, when a restoration project returned the grounds to their former splendor. Highlights of the beloved gardens include several lakes, spectacularly huge rhododendrons and camellias, and an unlandscaped section known as the Jungle.
