The Wired (6/26, Baldwin) “Gadget Lab” blog reported, “Starting today, you can pre-order the Jet Pilot headset.” Wired reported, “The Recon Jet Pilot edition will be available for pre-order from now until the end of the Tour de France (July 21) — geared toward cyclists and triathletes, the glasses will ship with software designed to connect to the various wireless sensors available for bicycles.” Popular Science (6/27, Nosowitz) reports, “While it uses a mutant form of Android (as does” Google “Glass), the Recon Jet isn’t quite as open as Glass, nor is it trying to be.” Popular Science explains, “Google Glass needs developers to create its reason for being; the Recon Jet’s is built in.” CNET News (6/27, Greene) reports “athletes will be able to keep track of a variety of performance data including heart rate, speed, distance traveled, and power output on the display at the bottom of the right lens.” The company “says the Jets will even display caller ID on incoming calls, as well as text messages, so athletes can decide with a glance whether they want to stop to take a call or respond to a message.” PC Magazine (6/27, Mlot) and other media sources also cover the story.
