Plays & Players seeks African-American male actor between 18-29 for the role of Terrell Location Philadelphia PA Plays & Players seeks African-American male actor between 18-29 for the role of Terrell in its upcoming production of Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet on its mainstage. This is a supporting role that would require approx. 1-2 rehearsals a week from Sept. 16-October 10, and then tech week will run from October 11-16. Performances are October 17-November 3, with a possible extension to November 10; Wed-Sat evening, Sat matinee & Sun matinee. Small weekly stipend. Non-equity only. Terrell is a high school student with a high level of bravado and a little bit of a "player." He is squarely a teenager with all the insecurities of a teenager pretending to be a man. Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet From the theater that brought you 2012’s hit production of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, comes the Philadelphia premiere from the African-American playwright touted as the “next August Wilson,” Tarell Alvin McCraney. A provocative, poignant, fiercely humorous, and ultimately universal story of a “sweet” young man’s journey to discover the “secret” of who he really is and where he really came from. Days before Hurricane Katrina strikes the projects of Louisiana, the currents of his life converge, overflowing into his close-knit community and bringing three generations of characters, all named after African gods, together in the stirring conclusion of McCraney’s The Brother/Sister Plays trilogy.
