Please SHARE my story! A little three-month-old girl like me should be bouncing around chasing balls and playing hard. There is nothing I would rather be doing than that, but right now all I can manage is a weak wag of my tail. I quite love you humans. Thanks for picking me up from the cold, scary pound and thanks for getting me to the vet at the first sign I was sick. This virus I have is AWFUL. It’s called Canine Parvovirus and it attacks the digestive system. Right now my body is very weak and can’t handle food or even water. I’m relying on IV fluids to keep me going, along with medications to help me battle the virus. I feel sad that I am so sick. Apparently if I had been vaccinated starting when I was 6 to 8 weeks old, I probably wouldn’t have gotten sick. Such a simple thing that would have saved me all this trouble. Right now I am holding my own – my attitude is bright and I am a fighter, but still in the danger zone. In soccer terms we are tied at the half, but I am not on my own. I have a great medical team fighting for me and I know my SCARS family is on my side as well. Hoping for a win here! Please SHARE my story (and encourage everyone to vaccinate their animals) and, if you can, donate to SCARS. Medical expenses for sick pups like me can quickly add up for a rescue group like SCARS. scarscare.ca/how-you-can-help/donate/ The deep dark days of winter are so challenging for the homeless and abandoned. Sadly, the risks and the challenges are even greater for the young. SCARS is so aware of the dangers facing puppies. We monitor the northern pounds daily where many of our animals come from, and stay in touch with community members to rescue as many as possible. This time of year is particularly hard. Fifa is the third puppy in two weeks that SCARS has taken in that is suffering from Canine Parvovirus. Each of these puppies came from a different area. Our most recent arrival (little Fifa), picked up from a pound, was in contact with six other puppies at the same facility. Those puppies are now in care as well and being closely monitored for signs of this deadly virus. SCARS is grateful to the veterinary teams who provide care, compassion and support for sick puppies like Fifa. It takes a team to save their lives including those who donate to help pay for their care. Thank you for caring! scarscare.ca/fifa/
