My mom Countess, a wonderful draft mare, was purchased by a nice woman named Stephanie. The sellers believed Countess was fat, but she was actually PREGNANT. She gave birth to me on July 29th, and I was doing well until I got into a sand arena/round pen and started to ingest sand - NOT GOOD! I got really sick, my intestines were impacted with sand and dirt debris. I began to have severe diarrhea, which began the process of my kidneys shutting down. My Mom and I had to go to urgent care - it was a really long trailer ride from where we live. I had to be tubed twice a day to try and remove all the impaction (without any tranquilizers, which was really tough). With that, IV fluids, antibiotics, x-rays, 24 hour care, and blood work to monitor my kidney functions, the vet bill was enormous. My human mom Stephanie is raising funds to pay for my expensive vet care. I am getting better, but still suffering from diarrhea and so I am being monitored closely. Thank goodness Stephanie is our human mom, because she is dedicated to giving us the care we need - but with it being so expensive, she must ask for help.
