Please ask President Obama to take a strong position for climate stability at the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference. The conference starts on December 1 so it is important to move on this immediately. (Quoting from Wikipedia) The United Nations Climate Change Conference , COP20 or CMP10 will be held in Lima, Peru, from December 1-12, 2014. [1] This will be the 20th yearly session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 10th session of the Meeting of the Parties (CMP 10) to the 1997 Kyoto Protocol . [2] The conference delegates will continue the negotiations towards a global climate agreement. Leadership of the negotiations is yet to be determined. To send a message to the President, go to whitehouse.gov, go to the Participate tab and click on “contact us’, then “Write the Whitehouse.” Under “Write a letter to the President” find no. 1 and click on “e-mail us.” Fill out the form that opens up and in the “comment” field, enter something like this in your own words: Dear President Obama, You have taken an important step toward climate stability with the recent agreement between the U. S. and China to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Now, please instruct our delegates to the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference to continue that momentum by committing to the following measures. - Firm U.S. limits on greenhouse gas emissions to prevent global heating from passing the 2 deg C “safe” limit. - U.S. leadership on the global level so other energy-consuming nations do the same. - Expanded energy efficiency and clean energy production to keep the economy perking. - Aid to the economically vulnerable to help them through the transition to a clean energy economy.
