Please check your bar ends. Are they smooth and rounded? Soft and supple? Are they sharp or missing all together? A good friend had a freak accident at MMF this past week...He is a very solid rider and this was not even a serious wreck, but he landed on his handlebar end with his pelvis. Very close to lymph nodes, testicles, Intestines, bladder, etc... The handlebar went approx 3 inches into his pelvis...lots of blood, a 6 hour ER visit, Cat Scan, and lots of pain later, he is healing,.., he is lucky, It could have been much worse. Our awesome sport comes with inherent risk, but please make sure you reduce the risk as much as is in your control...Make sure your gear is as safe as it can be. Helmet, Eye protection, Well maintained bike, etc....We sometimes get into our routines and then a rude reminder presents itself. Im glad my friend is ok... He was riding with friends who took care of him...bad situation if he had been alone. (another thing to think about)
