Please congratulate and welcome Nicole Funaoka our new Art Coordinator. Nicole comes to us from UC Davis with a BA in Art Studio and emphasis in Art Education. Nicole has a passion that is infectious and uplifting/inspiring. Nicole is a perfect hire to take the work of Victoria and get us even closer to truly defining ourselves as a Visual and Performing Arts school. The following is the goal out of our strategic school plan that she will support us on…the strategic plan will be revisited by leadership and committees developed to support the plan. All will be introduced in August. Here is the art goal: 3.2 The Visual and Performing Arts will be integrated into the core curriculum weekly. A. Weekly on Fridays, 45 minutes of instruction will be committed to the Visual and Performing Arts and connected to the ELA or Math Standards being taught. B. The art coordinator is available to assist teachers with ideas and help prepare activities that may be singleton in a week or take several weeks to complete. C. Teachers will post student art on bulletin boards, and/or pictures of performing arts activities.
