Please consider sharing this: Coca-Cola is forcing Fair Trade retailer Global Crafts to stop buying ornaments from an HIV/AIDS orphan group in South Africa because the ornaments are made from recycled soda cans and portions of the Coke logo are sometimes visible. Its absolutely ridiculous. Please consider sharing this post on your wall and encouraging all of your friends to do the same if you think this heartless legal maneuvering from a mega-corp needs to be called out. Thanks. Heres the original email I received from Global Crafts: Yes its a sad day when the largest of the soda companies (hint with the red can) stops a project for HIV/AIDS orphans in South Africa who are recycling cans into attitude angel ornaments. But that day has come and the corporation has a much bigger legal budget than we do. We not only need to address the red and white cans but also almost every brand of canned soft drink sold in South Africa as they are all owned by the corporation. We should still be able to use beer cans as these are local to South Africa so hopefully no one in the US will find recycling trash as trademark infringement. After several phone calls from the corporation, we agreed today to remove the angels from our online retail site and need to get them off our wholesale site soon. We could really use your help. If you plan on carrying these for the the 2014 holiday season, please consider purchasing them now.
