Please everyone look at Red! Red went from being one of the most - TopicsExpress

Please everyone look at Red! Red went from being one of the most depressive dogs I have seen to one of the luckiest in only a few short days. Red has found his companions and his happy future. We had an interest from a couple and did a meet with them yesterday morning at Lyons Kennels. Red was scared to come out of his kennel at first but greeted his potential adopters with more affection than any of us have seen yet. He pretty much wrapped his arms around them and gave kisses. We did the normal vet checks and references which all checked out but it was Red who was showing us who should be his family. Today Reds potential adopters drove back to Lyons and met with us again and to officially become Reds new family! Again today his legs were shaking and his tail was firmly between his legs while cowering in the corner of his kennel until we got him away from his kennel. Then you could see the stress start to ease and his guard start to be let down. Our team sat with him and gave him affection but we did not receive any true hugs or kisses from him. As soon as his new Mommy arrived again today he greeted her with the big two paw hug and his head gently rested against her face. It felt like he was saying thank you for coming back to make ME part of your family. It really was a heart warming moment. He also had to give one more Thank You to Mr. Lyons for taking care of him during these past few weeks. He freely walked up to Mr. Lyons and gave him a hug and affection as well. We all wanted to make sure he would not slip any leashes on his car ride home so he ended up wearing a collar, a harness, 2 leashes, and an ID tag, and he had an additional collar on with a phone number but that seemed too tight so we took that one off. We were overly being overly cautious because we all know how new adopted dogs can be a big flight risk! Anyway, we said our goodbyes and Red was in the back seat ready to start his next chapter of his life. We were told he is currently home resting after a much needed nice warm bath. I dont know how a dog that was forgotten and thrown away get to be so lucky? Mr. Lyons housing him, me just happening to feel his sadness in the kennel when Mr. Lyons showed me, a small group of us wanting to find him a way out of the kennel, a post that almost 12,000 people saw and shared, a family that knew from his pictures that he was the one for them, and a community of pet lovers that come together on social media when a heart breaking story like this comes across their screen. We know anything can happen and there is not always happy endings when adopted dogs try to adapt to a new family. I pray that this one will and that this will be where his journey ends. Thank You Reds new family for opening up your home and your hearts for this lucky guy and Thank You to all that shared and offered help in the past few days.
