Please forgive me for sounding like a broken record. But this annual conference thing, even as I pay for the early bird bonus, seems not to add up. A delegate with owner transport residing at the hotel shall pay Kshs. 51,200/=. Should you chose to fly, the package costs 69,700/=. Now that is a difference of Kshs. 18,500/=. The difference is bigger for the late payers. My assumption this is to cater for the flight to Mombasa and Airport transfers. Here is my problem. Jumbo Jet (KQ) at its cheapest costs about Kshs. 2,850/= to Mombasa and the return is 3,850/=, making it a total of Kshs. 6,700/= (booking.jambojet/Select.aspx). Should i opt for extreme opulence and take a cab to South Coast, it should cost be about Kshs. 8,000/= to and fro the Leisure Lodge. However, the cost of chartering those minivans sitting about 25 persons should at most be Kshs. 2,000/= per person, and yes, this is an over estimate. My question is this. Where is the balance of almost Kshs. 10,000/= going to? You know, somebody somewhere is lining up his pocket. I dont know who, but somebody is. And our democratically elected council representatives are silent, fighting for Anglo Leasing moneys to be returned, creating their very own Anglo Leasing.
