Please help with Avrils HW treatment if you can - we asked a new rescue to help her and they stepped up - unfortunately the person who asked us to crosspost her is not stepping up with the pledges she promised. If you are considering crossposting dogs for Regina Chris, please be advised of the following. Sweet Vernos Rescue of Rhode Island. Donate to Avrils care today please: https://paypal/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=jsZ-djqOZfFFYb6rjmHc1Pe8NU7DRGQ43AQQWCenAI1gX75IpsEkTTI2xL8&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8def8934b92a630e40b7fef61ab7e9fe63 You will all remember little Avril who was in a NY shelter and had been there for quite some time. We put her story on our page at the request of Regina Chris who promised pledges towards Avrils care. Unfortunately, Paws NE could not take her but a new, small for now rescue, Sweet Vernon Rescue of Rhode Island stepped up (before they knew of the pledges by the way). As it turns out, Avil has heartworm with an estimate of almost $1000 for treatment (the typical approx. expense for HW). What Ms. Chris failed to mention in her pledges was that the group had to be a 501c3 - not mentioned anywhere in her crosspost to PNE. She is now refusing to release the pledges because she has accused Sweet Vernons of lying about the cost of treatment which is totally false and vet estimates available and provided to her. She also says her pledges were based on 501c3 status. Anyone who knows anything about rescue knows that a 501c3 does not a good rescue make - plenty of terrible rescues have 501c3 - their paperwork has not been approved, it can take up to 12 months. What should they do, wait and let dogs go uncared for until then? Unless someone is donating a huge amount of money, the tax benefits as we all know are inconsequential. Paws NE will be donating to Avrils care because we were a small struggling group once too - and $1000 was the difference between helping one dog or 10 and they shouldnt have to make that choice.
