The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian, which occurred at a marked crosswalk at 101 Street and 82 Avenue earlier this afternoon. Southwest Division Patrol members responded to the collision at approximately 12:20 p.m. today, Monday, Jan. 27, 2014. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male in his mid-20s on the ground, after allegedly being struck by a vehicle. Witnesses told police that a Chevy Cobalt was travelling northbound on 101 Street and was making a left-hand turn onto 82 Avenue, when it allegedly struck a male pedestrian who was walking southbound across the avenue at a marked crosswalk. The male was treated by EMS on scene and transported to hospital where he later died. Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
