Please indulge me as I brag about my son, Jason. He is currently the Dean of Students at Heron High School in Indianapolis. He taught Latin there for three years before being promoted to Assisted Dean of Students last year and then Dean this year. He was just invited by a former student to attend a banquet with her because she is receiving the “Realizing the Dream” award. The award is given to first-generation college students for outstanding achievement in their freshman year and are now in their sophomore year. Each selected student receives a $2,000.00 scholarship and they are asked to name a secondary teacher that most influenced their decision to attend college. The nominated teacher receives a $1,000.00 Professional Development Grant. Way to go Jason! This is the second former student of his that has been honored and invited him to attend an award banquet.
